Film and video production in Calgary, Toronto and across Canada. Hire us for the whole thing, or for the one stage you’re missing.

Commercials & campaigns

Thirty seconds that people repeat to their friends.

TV, cinema, pre-roll and social. We take a brief (or write one with you), find the idea, then cast, shoot and finish it in-house. Every campaign ships with the cut-downs it needs, not the ones someone remembers at the last minute.

  • Concept and scripts
  • Storyboards and shot lists
  • Casting, wardrobe, art direction
  • Broadcast and cinema masters
  • Cut-downs for every placement

02 / 06

Documentary & mini-docs

Real people, told straight.

From feature documentaries to three-minute series for city programs. We research, find the people worth listening to, and shoot interviews that feel like conversations. Our founder made a feature doc about his own family. We know what it takes to earn trust on camera.

  • Research and story structure
  • Interview direction
  • Verité and b-roll
  • Series formats
  • Festival and broadcast delivery

Social & short-form

Vertical, fast, and still well made.

Short-form built for the feed, not shrunk down for it. We plan the vertical frame on set, write hooks for the first second, and deliver captioned versions for every platform. It works as a monthly content run too.

  • 9:16, 4:5 and 1:1 planned on set
  • Hooks, captions and subtitles
  • Platform-specific edits
  • Monthly content runs
  • Creator-style and polished formats

04 / 06

Branded & fundraising films

Stories people give money, time or attention to.

For universities, cities, non-profits and brands with something true to say. Story-first films for donors, recruits, communities and boards: the rooms where a spreadsheet won’t get anyone to say yes.

  • Fundraising and advancement films
  • Recruitment and culture
  • Community and public engagement
  • In-language campaigns
  • Event and gala screenings

Post-production

Where the second hit is made.

Edit, colour, voiceover, sound design, mix and motion graphics under one roof, and one conversation. Bring us your footage or bring us nothing. Either way, you get one team accountable for how it finally looks and sounds.

  • Offline and online edit
  • Colour grading
  • VO casting and recording
  • Sound design and final mix
  • Motion graphics and titles
  • Captions, versioning, localisation

SC.05Straight answers10 questions

Before youask.

Q.01How much does a video cost with Double Whammy?

It depends on shoot days, crew size, cast, locations and how much post the piece needs. A social content day and a cinema commercial are very different budgets. Tell us your range in the brief and we’ll tell you honestly what it buys, including where we’d spend it and where we wouldn’t.

Q.02How long does a production take?

Most commercials and branded films take four to eight weeks from signed brief to final delivery. Social content can turn around faster. Documentary work runs longer because real life doesn’t keep a schedule; mini-doc series usually take six to twelve weeks.

Q.03What’s included in end-to-end production?

Everything from the first idea to the final file: concept, scripts, storyboards, casting, locations, crew, the shoot, edit, colour, voiceover, sound design, the final mix, motion graphics, captions and every cut-down you need. You can also hire us for any single stage.

Q.04Do you only work in Calgary and Toronto?

Our studio is in Calgary and we shoot regularly in Toronto, but we work across Canada. We bring a core team and hire trusted local crew where it makes sense, so travel stays sensible.

Q.05Can you work with our agency or in-house creative team?

Yes. Plenty of our work starts with someone else’s creative. The Calgary Transit and recycling campaigns were made with the City of Calgary’s creative team. We can take a script to screen, or come in earlier and help shape it.

Q.06What formats and cut-downs do we get?

Whatever your media plan needs: broadcast and cinema masters, 16:9, 9:16, 4:5 and 1:1 versions, 6, 15 and 30-second cut-downs, and captioned files. We plan the vertical frame on set so social versions don’t feel cropped.

Q.07Can you produce in languages other than English?

Yes. Better Recycler was made for Calgary’s Punjabi community with in-language casting and direction, and it ran in Cineplex theatres. We cast, direct and subtitle in-language rather than dubbing an English ad.

Q.08Who owns the footage and the final video?

You own the final deliverables. Talent, music and stock are licensed for the media, territory and term your campaign needs, and we spell those out in the estimate so nothing surprises you later.

Q.09Do you make documentaries and long-form?

Yes, from mini-doc series for the City of Calgary to Made in Vietnam, our founder’s feature documentary. We handle research, interviews, story structure and festival or broadcast delivery.

Q.10Can we hire you for ongoing content?

Yes. Monthly content runs work well for social: we plan a quarter, shoot in blocks, and deliver on a steady schedule so your feed never goes quiet.
